Diagnosis is difficult and cannot be made from the symptoms of headache and migraine alone because the symptoms of many different types of headache overlap. However the challenge of determining if disorders of the upper neck are involved has largely been overcome. Application of techniques I have developed form the basis of courses I present for physiotherapists and other interested healthcare professionals in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Belgium, The Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland and Germany. This approach in Europe and the United Kingdom has become known as the 'Watson Headache Approach'. Practitioners of headacheandmigraine.com have completed not only the basic two-day course but after at least six months of experience using the techniques also a one-day advanced course.

As a migraine or headache sufferer, you will know how disruptive and inconvenient a migraine attack or headache can be – not only does it impact on you but also your family, friends and colleagues who watch on helplessly.

This is not helped by the fact that despite the enormous amount of research into the various forms of headache and migraine their cause remains a mystery.

At headacheandmigraine.com we believe that every headache sufferer has the right to be kept informed of the latest research, to know their headache diagnosis as precisely as possible, and the nature of their headache disorder, its outcome and possible types of treatment; our aim is to support (along with your medical practitioner) you as a headache or migraine sufferer in determining the cause of your head pain and symptoms.

My clinical experience comprising examination of the upper cervical spine in over 5000 headache and migraine sufferers suggests very strongly that cervicogenic (neck) disorders are significantly underestimated and can be the cause of various forms of headache and migraine — I believe that, in the presence of negative medical tests, the necks of all (primary) headache sufferers should be examined, irrespective of the diagnosis.

As a result of my clinical experience I have developed an approach, which not only determines if disorders of your neck are likely to be the source of your headache symptoms, but can also identify the spinal segments at fault. This diagnostic accuracy increases the chances of a successful outcome.
